# Can't Hear the AI

> Fix audio issues during a roleplay session

If the AI isn't speaking back to you during a roleplay, it's almost always a local audio issue — not the platform itself. Work through the steps below to fix it.

***

## 1. Wrong Output Device Selected

Your system may be routing sound to the wrong device — for example, Bluetooth headphones that aren't nearby or connected.

Check your computer's audio output settings and confirm the correct headphones or speakers are selected.

***

## 2. Audio Muted or Volume Too Low

Check your system volume and make sure the browser tab running the session isn't muted. It's a simple fix but easy to overlook.

***

## 3. Browser Issue

Occasionally the browser stops routing audio correctly. Refresh the page and rejoin the session. If that doesn't work, try switching to Chrome.

***

## 4. Unstable Internet Connection

Weak or inconsistent connections can interrupt audio streaming. Move to a more stable network and close other high-bandwidth applications while running a roleplay.

***

## Quick Checklist

If you still can't hear the AI:

* Confirm the correct audio output device is selected in your system settings
* Check that your system volume is up and the browser tab isn't muted
* Refresh the session
* Try a different network or switch to Chrome

***

## Best Practices

* **Use wired headphones when possible** — reduces connectivity issues common with Bluetooth devices
* **Test your audio before a session** — play any sound on your device to confirm output is working
* **Stay in a quiet environment** — clear audio makes it easier for both you and the AI to engage naturally
